A Rare American Kimber Cleaver-Type Protractor

American, c.1850, unsigned but built to Kimber Cleaver's design, constructed of heavy guage brass, 'X' shaped frame supporting the circle of the protractor with spring steel pins with brass adjusters, engraved silver scale to the edge with single verner scale to the body, in fitted oak case, case width 16.5cm

Footnote: this pattern of protractor was designed by Kimber Cleaver (1814 - 1858) who worked as a mining engineer in the coal reagons of Pennsylvania.
