Charles Warren, b. Feb 17 1840 – d. Jan 26 1927, was appointed to the post of the chief of Metropolitan Police in January 1866 where he over saw the investigation into the Jack the Ripper case, Warren never made and statements about who he thought the killer was. However, in a final report on October 17 1888 to the Home office he stated “I look upon this series of murders as unique in the history of our country”.
