French, c.1850, engraved to the outside of the case 'NACHET opticien, rue Serpente, 16, Paris', the closed body is constructed of unlacquered gilt brass, a pull at teh top swings up to allow the user to slide open the top of the case, the microscope body is stored below, it slots into a brass dovetail on the inverted lid, two sections slide open to reveal a small mirror below, the microscope comes with 3 original objectives screwed into the underside of the lid,
