Album one begins with images of the S.S. Britannia, a peninsular ond Oriental Steam Navigational Company passenger liner on a cruise in 1896.
The album contains photographs purchased in various countries en route inluding:
Photographs by Agius of Malta and Zangaki of Egypt.
6 views of Colombo, 2 inscribed "Skeen" in the negative, William Louis Henry Skeen, an English photographer who ran a successful studio in Ceylon, W.L.H. Skeen and Co.
6 views of Singapore and Penang, 2 are attributed to Gustave Richard Lambert, photographer from Dresden and based in Singapore.
12 views of Hong Kong, including a 3 piece panorama (210x870mm), showing the town and harbour of Hong Kong, stamped,"AFONG Photo.Hong Kong" Lai Afong was a very successful Chinese photographer, producing some of the finest images in China in the 19th century. He was praised by the emminent Scottish photographer, John Thomson who also produced fine work in China.
19 views of Canton and Shanghai, including work by Lai Afong and a street scene by A.Chan, a Chinese photographer and dentist, who worked primarily in Canton.
Album Two contains over 50 tinted albumen prints showing topographical scenes, street scenes and peoples in Japan.
Including views in Nagoya, Biwa, Osaka, Kyoto with images by K.Ogawa and Genzo Kanamaru among others.
Travel documents in the album relate to Mr. E.P.Frost and include hotel bills and an official passport for travelling in the Japanese interior dated July 29th, 1898.
