mid 19th Century, formed from shitan wood with inset glazed compass with blued steel needle and printed rose with central cardinal compass directionals and 12 directions of the Earthly Branches, adjoining scaphe sundial with pin gnomon on concave gilt surface with hour lines, shitan wood cover with silver and gold wire grass design with a seven star constellation above, 6cm long with cover.
