An Early Form of Fowlers Adding Machine

American, c.1863, engraved to the front 'FOWLERS ASSING MACHINE PATENTED JULY 14th 1863', the body made of polished light wood with reading register to the rear, with two engraved brass side plates and 6 slides, the slide values engraved on the side plate

Footnote: On 14th July, 1863, George B. Fowler of Chicago, Illinois, was granted his first patent (US39222) for the design of this adding machine
