Flints offer photographs at auction both a section of our regular sale and in dedicated photograph sales. Our next Photograph Sale is on Thursday 28th January 2021. The closing date for entries is 15th December 2020. We have an interesting selection of work by important photographers including two stereo daguerreotypes by T.R Williams, albumen prints by Roger Fenton, a good number of 20th century vintage gelatin silver prints well-known photographers, and in addition some good contemporary work.
Flints sales feature photographs from all periods from the earliest techniques through to collectable late 20th century images.
20th Century subjects include modernist and contemporary art photography, fashion photography, documentary photographs and photojournalism. Past sales have achieved excellent prices for works by Cecil Beaton, Ruth Bernhard, John Bulmer, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Lucinda Douglas-Menzies, Gillian Edelstein, Philippe Halsman, Bert Hardy, Germaine Krull, John Minihan, José Ortiz Echagüe, Gordon Parkes, Steve Pyke, Ken Regan, George Roger, Jan Saudek, Lord Snowdon, Graham Smith and many others.
There is a good market for 19th Century photographs with interesting subject matter; exotic travel and documentary photographs, significant portraits, early erotic images, and the later Victorian pictorialism with landscape and genre subjects. Daguerreotypes, calotypes, salt prints, albumen and platinum prints all feature in our sales. Recent sales have achieved excellent results for works by David Octavius Hill & Robert Adamson, Charles Aubrey, Roger Fenton, John Moffat, Paul Nadar, Theodor Parr, Henry Peach Robinson, Charles Thurston Thompson, stereoviews by T R Williams and Ferrier & Soulier amongst others.
