A Rare Irish Hawthorn Engineer's Slide Rule
Irish, c.1830-1850, in boxwood with brass slide and arch hinge, steel tips, stamped 'KENNAN FISHAMBLE ST DUBLIN' and 'IMPROVED AND ARRANGED BY RT. HAWTHORN CIVIL ENGINEER NEWCASTLE TYNE' with nine inlaid gauge points and numerous engineer's tables on both sides, 31.8cm closed.
Note: Kennnan and Sons 1829 advert states they were founded in 1780, Hawthorn designed his slide rule in (probably) 1805.
