A Rare 'Dr. G. Johnstone Stoney's Improved Heliostat', By Watson & Sons

English, c.1890, signed to a plaque on the base 'W. Watson & Sons, Manufacturers, 313 High Holborn, London', the base constructed of French polised Spanish mahogany with 3 large screw feet and 2 recessed spirit levels, the heliostat body containing the clockwork (working but untested) on a hinged base with graduated clamp, top engraved with compass points, with geared adjustments, missing the mirror and the mirror support, base 26 x 28
