English, c.1900, ivorine* plaque marked 'NEGRETTI & ZAMBRA, LONDON', the magic lantern on a large French polished mahogany baseboard with adjusting screw feet to the front, mahogany lamp housing with 2 opening doors, steel chimney and handrails, large brass lens mount with triple extending lens mount, lens with rack and pinion focusing and flap, all in the original steel bound pine case with delivery label from Negretti & Zambra, lantern length extended 77cm.

*An 1883 invention which allowed celluloid manufacturers to imitate the distinctive graining of ivory, by the end of 19th century celluloid was marketed as a cheap ivory substitute.
