Jean Adolphe Braun (1812–1877) was a pioneering French photographer, celebrated for his floral still lifes, Parisian street scenes, and expansive Alpine landscapes. Initially a pattern designer, Braun began photographing flowers in the 1850s, using the collodion process to create detailed prints that captivated the Parisian art scene. His success led to the formation of Braun et Cie, a photography company that produced thousands of stereoscopic images of Alpine regions and large-format panoramic landscapes. In the 1860s, Braun adopted the carbon print method, allowing him to reproduce famous artworks, advancing the field of art history. His photographs remain influential, exhibited in renowned museums and frequently featured in the history of photography.
