Medicine - Historically Important Parliament Medical Act

the act titled 'An Act to remove Restrictions on the granting of Qualifications for Registration under the Medical Act on the ground of Sex [11th August 1876], the act removed from a ledger with string binding marks clean and complete.

The Medical Act 1876 (Chapter 41) was an act which repealed the previous Medical Act in the United Kingdom and finally allowed all British medical authorities to license all qualified applicants whatever their gender. It was introduced by Parliament member Russell Gurney. The Act obtained the queen's assent and became law despite Queen Victoria's strong private objections to women's medical training
