A 19th Century Domestic Medicine Chest

English, mahogany slim trunk-type chest with brass fittings, velvet lining to the interior, the lifting lid to compartment for four large and two smaller glass pharmacy bottles with stoppers and printed paper content labels, three with ‘R.U. Potts, Chemists 26, South Audley St., Grosvenor Square’ retailer labels, with brass retaining rod to drawer beneath, with a further five small glass bottles with stoppers, chamois covers and printed paper content and aforementioned retailer labels, a removable section housing a brass handheld balance and paper roundel with weights, and beneath a glass mortar and pestle and package of plaisters and ‘Superior Gold Beaters Skin’ – 25cm. x 23cm. x 9.2cm.
