Three Bow-Frame Amputation Saws

the first, French, c. 1890, by Charrière a Paris, the steel frame stamped HM62, the blade with screw adjustment, with detachable, cross-hatch horn handle in two pieces– 36cm. long, 9.5cm wide; the second, French, 19th Century, by C H Dubois, the blade with screw adjustment, with studded, ebony handle – 34cm. long, 9.2cm. wide; and the third, American, mid-19th Century, likely for Kolbe, Phila (Philadelphia), with steel frame and blade with screw adjustment, with cross hatch, studded, ebony handle – 35cm. long, 9.2cm. wide

Note: The first two previously bought at David Stanley Auctions on 20th March, 1994 (Lot 1010 and Lot 303, respectively). The third previously bought at Sotheby's on 28th May, 1997 (Lot 103).
