English, c.1900, signed 'STANLEY GT TURNSTILE, LONDON', in a French polished mahogany case with an oval plaque to the lid engraved 'BOARD OF AGRICULTURE No. 4', and engraved the same on the dividers,
Footnote: this design incorporating hook ends meant that the points could be resharpened without affecting the scales on the instrument. The baord of agriculture existed between 1889 and 1903 then becoming the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries.
