British and Continental, late 18th/19th Century, majority steel and plated with ebony, horn and lignum vitae handles, including: six surgical knives/scalpels by W&H Hutchinson, Hawksley, Savigny and Ferguson – longest 21cm., shortest 15.6cm.; three trocars and cannulae -- longest 15cm., shortest 9.8cm.; four needles by Gardner, Fraser and one silver needle by George Cowie, London, 1857 -- longest 22cm., shortest 16.3cm.; three hooks -- all approx. 14cm. long; a pair of Assalini’s artery forceps; a cased set of forceps/tweezers by Ferguson (one instrument missing); ten assorted forceps/tweezers by Ferguson / MR Paget ST B H, Marilaud and Ferguson -- longest 21cm., shortest 8.2cm.; and four English, 20th Century, some by W.H. Bailey and Evans – approx.14.8cm. long
