French, 19^th Century, by Daran, with a number of instruments with maker’s stamp, silver plated and tortoiseshell, including a caustic holder decorated with engine turning, six tortoiseshell lancet (two with damage to shell and one with blades stuck), two scissors with proximal curve to jaws, two female catheters one with stilet, a Brodie’s director, an encased double-ended vaccinator by Maw, forceps with fenestrated jaws, a combined spatula and elevator, tweezers with sliding clasp, an unusual trocar and cannula with horn handle, a combined director and scoop, a combined probe and scoop, probes, a catheter attachment, contained in tooled and gilt leather, plush-lined wallet (with slight damage) stamped 'Fab: Inst De Chirurgie / Daran / 4, Rue Git-le-Coeur' – 17.3cm. x 9cm. x 4.5cm.
