English, c. 1860, signed in script along the side of the bar limb 'Ruck Maker Cheltenham', standing on a large Powell & Lealand style tripod base, large plano-concave mirror in a gimbal on sliding collar, simple sliding stage, large course focusing wheels, fine focus via screw to nosepiece, with case of accessories including; 3 achromatic French style objective lenses in cans, a polariser and an analyser, a large compressor, a wheel of stops, a single eyepiece and drawer tube, all in a French polished mahogany case with brass handle. Case measures 42cm tall.
