A Rollei Rolleiflex 2.8D TLR Medium Format Camera
black, serial no. 1605509, with Carl Zeiss Planar f/2.8 80mm lens, serial no. 1573885, body, G-VG, shutter working, screw sheered locking arm for film back, lens, VG, complete with various accessories including filters, panoramic head, cut-film back and more, in home made fitted wooden box; Provenance, John Knight taught Science at Musselburgh Grammar School from 1920 but he was also a gifted and very highly regarded amateur photographer. His work was invariably of exhibition quality and many of his studies featured local scenes. He became a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and in 1971 in recognition of his work he was given honorary membership of all photographic societies in Scotland. He was also a founder member of the Old Musselburgh Club.
He died in 1980 and, in recent years, East Lothian Council acquired a collection of his photographs and slides. These are stored in the Local History Centre at Haddington where the public can view them by appointment. The following lot are originals of his work.
