Stanley's 13inch Magazine Presentation Case of Drawing Instruments

English, Late victorian, stamped to the inside of the lid 'STANLEY, GREAT TURNSTILE, HOLBORN, LONDON, TO H. M. GOVERNMENT', the case constructed of French polished oak with what Stanley referred to in their catalogue as 'Mediaeval electrum bindings', with presentation plaque to the lid engraved Presented to Mr L. C. Boyce, as a token of respect by the officials and workmen of the main colliery co ltd Neath on his leaving the company service', with a lift out top section velvet lined and filled with 33 German Silver instruments, the second lift out tray with seven scaling rulers, large German silver roller rule a sector and other items, in the base are two German silver protractors and an arm, along with various French curves and set squares, a button at the back releases a bottom drawer containing paints, mixing dish and brushes, case 33cm wide [CITES]

Footnotes: This was the most complete and expensive magazine of instruments offered by the Firm of Stanly, in 1900 it was priced at £30.0.0 a considerable sum in its day given that the average wage was £42.0
