English, dated from the Lozenge date stamp 1872, engraved to the back of the stand 'THOs ARMSTRONG & BRO, 88 & 90 DEANSGATE MANCHESTER, No.124', on a very unusual shaped cast brass stand, with trunnions supporting the main body, with plano-concave mirror on a long arm on a sliding collar, rack and pinion focus to substage, with screw X-Y control, plane stage, course focus via rack and pinion, fine focus via screw, non RMS thread with RMS thread adapter, two eyepieces, in French polished mahogany case, case height 35cm
