John Thompson Boilers - Established in Wolverhampton circa 1820 by William Thompson, John Thompson Limited initially focused on general engineering. Passing through family hands, it transitioned to specialize in boilers by 1860. Amidst global conflicts, the company diversified, producing vital components for both World Wars. In the 1950s, it ventured into nuclear engineering, securing a pivotal contract for the Berkeley nuclear power station. Acquired by Clarke Chapman in 1970, it continued its legacy until the closure of the Ettingshall Works in 2004. John Thompson Limited stands as a testament to industrial evolution, spanning generations and industries, leaving an indelible mark on engineering history.
