Blowing through a tube to the device spins the blades causing the disk to rotate behind a fixed pointer, providing a crude assessment of lung function, it was also considered of benefit to “any lady who desires to symmetrically enlarge her bust”, 14.5cm long; with a 19th century medical caliper gauge stamped 'Down Bros London' in brass and steel, with divisions marked 1-8, 17.5cm (2)
