A Fine Collection of 28 Early Rock Section Microscope Slides
An early 19th Century rare and important group of 28 Geology microscope slides including fossilised wood sections and other specimens attributable to William H. Darker. Each with Darker’s diamond point engraved description with most having the specimen at the top and location at the bottom. Although none of the slides are signed the handwriting and construction of the slides can be attributed to William H. Darker. Interestingly one slide engraved Fossil Wood Coniferous, Whitby’ is dated 1848, this is the first time we have seen a slide by Darker with a date (28)
