An Antique Leitz Compound Microscope

German, No. 51629, certificate dated 28/03/1900, in lacquered brass and lacquered oxidised brass, rack and pinion coarse focussing, micrometer fine focus graduated to 0.01mm, with Leitz objectives 3, 3a and 7, eyepieces 2 and 4, Abbe condenser and additional Leitz substage mounting for simple stops, in original velvet-lined, fitted mahogany case with matching serial no., with a large quantity of different filters and stops in an accessory drawer and two lacquered brass canisters, microscope case 36cm high excluding brass handle.

Condition Report: Optically very good noting crazing to convex side of mirror, mechanically very good, coarse and fine focus operate smoothly. Laquered brass on microscope in very good condition, wear to the lacquer on all three objectives, very slight wear and a few small marks to foot, nickel-silver parts would benefit from a polish, case very solid with no cracks.
