English, c.1870, engraved to the back of the foot 'Baker, 244 High Holborn, London', standing on a 'Y' shaped base with tall uprights supporting the main body on conical trunnions, with plano-concave mirror in gimbal on articulated arm on sliding collar, mechanical substage with X-Y control via screw, rotation via crown gear and pinion, with rack and pinion focus, mechanical stage with X-Y control via rack and screw, with rotating slide rest, course focusing via rackwork at the back of a triangular bar, limb incorporating fine focus screw, binocular body with unusual screw out Wenham prism housing, with rack work to interocular adjustment, with the following accessories:
