Footnote: Rigi Railways, known as Rigi Bahnen in German, operates a network of railways on the picturesque Rigi mountain, nestled between the arms of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. This company oversees two standard gauge rack railways: the Vitznau–Rigi Bahn (VRB) and the Arth–Rigi Bahn (ARB), as well as the Luftseilbahn Weggis–Rigi Kaltbad (LWRK) cable car.

At a breathtaking altitude of 1,752 meters (5,748 feet) above sea level, Rigi Railways claims the title of the highest standard gauge railway across Europe. Moreover, it stands as the loftiest railway within both the Lucerne and Schwyz cantons. Notably, the Vitznau–Rigi Bahn holds historical significance as Europe's pioneering mountain rack railway, following closely behind the Mount Washington Cog Railway in the United States.
