Note: Davis, George E., (B 1850, D 20 April 1907 aged 56) was a prominent chemical engineer who was instrumental in the formation of the Society of Chemical Industry (1881). He was its first Secretary and was also interested in microscopy founding the journal 'Northern Microscopist' in 1881 and published a textbook on the subject, Practical Microscopy.
