Boer War Interest

Union Castle Line Sports medal from the Tantallon Castle (Built in 1894 by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering at Govan for James B Smith and Co. she was sold to Castle Mail Packets Company in 1896. Later transferred to Union-Castle Mail Steamship company in 1900 and used in the transportation of troops in the Boer War. She ran aground in fog on Robben Island off Cape Town on the 07th May 1901 and was declared a total loss.), this medal dated Birmingham 1901 and with corresponding Registered Design number. Together with a Hallmarked Silver Cigarette Case, Birmingham 1932 by Edgar & Son. Gross weight 72.2 g (2)
