A Cased Pair of Imperial Liquid Working Standard Measures

English, undated but c.1900, with one stamped to the front 'GALLON', and the other '1/2 GALLON' with calibration verification and Exchequer marks to a spot of tin solder below the neck, bath stamped with makers name to the rear 'GASKELL & CHAMBERS, BIRMINGHAM' both constructed of copper with two large tubular handles to rear, with removable pouring spouts, in an oak travel case with green baize lining, measure heights 30cm & 36.5cm.

Footnote: these measures were specially made to be used by the weights and measures department to calibrate any of the inspector's measures that were to be taken out on site.
