leather and brass bound album in Gothic style, compiled in 1860's, with dedication 'Joshua H Robson from his sister Sarah Robson Januy 11th 1865' with approximately 169 cartes de visite,many with biographical details added to the album page, e.g. date of birth, place and date of debut, date of London appearance, for actors plays they appeared in. composers conductors and musicians include Verdi, Rossini, Wagner, Giocomo Meyerbeer, Michael Costa, Michael Balfe, Jules Benedict, William Sterndale Bennett, Alfred Mellon, Luigi Arditi, Francis Mori, Joseph Carpenter etc; opera singers including Jenny Lind, Marietta Alboni, Giulia Grisi, Giorgio Ronconi, Karl Formes; a great many actors, male and female including Adelaide Ristori, Mademoiselle Rachel, Charles John Kean etc; album size 31cm x 24cm

Note: This album was compiled by Joshua or Sarah Robson after the death of Frederick Robson (1821-1864) widely regarded as the finest comic actor of his day. There are three CdV's of Robson in character from three different plays, three others have been removed from the album. It is noteworthy that he is titled simply 'Robson' in the album, whereas other are given more complete names or formal titles. Joshua and Sarah are not recorded as the names of his children but it is likely they were related, perhaps nephew and niece.
