including: a cased set of possibly sturdy disease instruments, English, 19th Century, lacquered-brass with ebony handles, containing a syringe, two trocars, a hook and tweezers, with a fleam with horn handle stamped BORWICK CAST STEEL (possibly added to set), in leatherette, plush-lined case (in two pieces) – 16.3cm. x 4cm. x 10cm.; a steel, four-blade fleam with ornate guard, Toulouse, 19th Century, stamped FERRAS A TOULOUSE – 11.5cm. (length); a single, sprung steel, lacquered-brass fleam, Lancaster, 19th Century, stamped K. BUCHMILLER LANCASTER, with internal casing for spare blade – 10.3cm. (length); a large trocar and perforated cannula with ebony handle – 21.5cm. (length); a farrier’s hoof knife, Sheffield, 19th Century, stamped GEORGE BUTLER & Co and SHEFFIELD ART ENGLAND, steel with horn handle – 22.7cm. (length); another farrier’s hoof knife, Sheffield, 19th Century, stamped for JOHN PETTY & SONS, SHEFFIELD, steel with horn handle – 20.5cm. Note: The sturdy set was previously bought by at David Stanley Auctions 25th September, 1999 (Lot 942). The farrier’s hoof knives were previously bought David Stanley Auctions 29th March, 2003 (Lot 221). The fleam at Christies, South Kensington 13th August, 1998 (Lot 117). Trocar and cannula was previously bought at David Stanley Auctions 25th March, 2000 (Lot 610). Castrating clamp bought Hungerford 8th December, 1989.
