A large and extensive private collection of medicine chests, surgical instruments, and other medical antiques will be sold at Flints in two parts with the first in the November 2023 'Fine Scientific & Medical Auction'

This impressive and unique collection was assembled over 40 years by the current vendor, a retired surgeon, sourcing many items through the major auction rooms of London. The main core of the collection is a large collection of medicine chests from the late 18th century through to the early 20th century.

The collection includes many impressive medicine chests including an important 18th century lacquered Chinese apothecary cabinet. A chest from the RYS yacht St George, a yacht built by Ramage and Ferguson of Leith in 1890 owned by Ernest James Wythes CBE (1868-1949), along with many other medicine chests.
